Philadelphia Chromosome

The Philadelphia chromosome is formed when chromosome 9 and chromosome 22 get broken and exchange their parts. This leads to the formation of an abnormally small chromosome 22. The BCR-ABL gene gets generated on chromosome 22 where the part of chromosome 9 joins along. The mutated chromosome 22 is known as the Philadelphia chromosome.
