What causes recurrent heavy vaginal bleeding?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing heavy vaginal bleeding every couple of days for over a week. The blood ranges from dark red, almost black, to brownish, and then repeats. It started when my boyfriend had his finger in there and it was a little painful. When I looked down, there was blood everywhere, all over my vagina and things. The bleeding went away after a few days but keeps coming back really heavy, more so than my period, and I am not sure what to do. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Regarding your symptoms, I believe you have developed breakthrough bleeding due to a possible chlamydia infection. I would suggest you do a high vaginal and endocervical swab test and reply to me with the result. Also, do hormone profiles test to rule out hormone imbalance. Kindly take the following medications:

  1. Two capsules of Tetracycline 500 mg for one week.
  2. Two tablets of Metronidazole 500 mg for two weeks.
  3. Two tablets of vitamin C 1000 mg for two weeks.
  4. One tablet of Norethisterone 5 mg for one week.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medications as per their advice.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
