What are the factors causing bleeding during sex?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I bleed every time I have sexual intercourse, even when it is not during my menstrual cycle, so it should not happen. I do not have sexual intercourse often, but this month I was more active than normal, and I bled every time. This is the first instance of bleeding during sexual intercourse for me.
Please assist.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
The following are the reasons:
-
Dryness, which can be due to infection, improper foreplay, dehydration, age factors, and hormonal imbalance.
-
You can try it the natural way by increasing foreplay, which can cause lubrication, or by using artificial lubricants.
-
An injury can be due to dryness or deep penetration in a few positions during sex.
-
Vaginismus (an involuntary tensing of the vagina): Fear during sex causes muscles in the genital area to contract and cause pain to both partners. Both partners need to increase foreplay duration to reduce fear and bring comfortability.
-
Congenital abnormality (abnormality from birth).
-
Fibroids (non-cancerous growths in the uterus) need an ultrasound of the abdomen to confirm the diagnosis.
To assess the local infection, can you send a picture for confirmation?
Kindly share more details regarding the above issue so we can work on diagnosis and management.
I hope this helps.
Thank you, and take care.
Regards.
