Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 33-years-old. I was 40 days pregnant. I lost my first baby two years back within 50 days due to frequent travel. The second baby pregnancy was confirmed last year and the journey was prolonged till the fifth month but after an anomaly, I was advised to do MTP due to IUD condition six months back. We took a seven-month break after MTP and confirmed pregnancy this month. During MTP my doctor gave notes as lDA+lmwh for next pregnancy and risk of PPH. Now I am pregnant so is it important to follow as given or I can travel to a normal healthy pregnancy with normal pregnancy tablets prescribed by the upcoming doctor after check?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Given your previous pregnancy losses (one at 50 days and one at five months due to intrauterine device condition), your doctor’s advice to take LDA (low-dose Aspirin) and LMWH (low molecular weight Heparin) was likely to prevent complications related to blood clotting issues, placental problems, or recurrent pregnancy loss.
Should you take LDA & LMWH during this pregnancy?
Yes, it is important to follow your previous doctor’s advice especially since they prescribed it after reviewing your case history. These medications help prevent complications like:
Blood clotting disorders (thrombophilia), can cause placental insufficiency.
Recurrent pregnancy loss due to poor blood flow to the baby.
Prevention of conditions like preeclampsia or IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction).
What should you do next?
Visit your new doctor as soon as possible: Bring your previous pregnancy reports and discuss the need for LDA and LMWH.
Follow the prescribed medication regimen: If the doctor confirms clotting risks, continuing low-dose aspirin (LDA) and LMWH (like enoxaparin or Clexane) is crucial.
Monitor pregnancy closely: Regular scans and Doppler studies may be needed to ensure good blood flow to the baby.
Be cautious with travel and physical activity: Since you had complications before, avoid excessive travel, especially in early pregnancy.
Your new doctor will assess if you must take LDA and LMWH based on clotting tests and history. Do not stop or change medications without consultation, as these are prescribed to improve your pregnancy outcome.
I hope this has helped you.
Please feel free to reach out to me again if you have further queries.
Thank you.
