Could poor diet and stress worsen psoriasis?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My 35-year-old sister has had psoriasis since she was a teenager. She used to get red, scaly patches on her knees and elbows, but now it is also appearing on her scalp, lower back, and even her belly. Recently, she has been saying her skin feels cracked and painful, and she is embarrassed because it sometimes bleeds. She tried phototherapy a few years ago, but it did not work well, and she stopped.
She also has a history of high stress due to her job, and she does not eat a very healthy diet. Could these factors be making it worse? Please advise on further treatment plans which we should explore.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
