How can she reduce skin sensitivity and flare-ups?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My cousin is suffering from rosacea, and it is significantly affecting the quality of life.

The condition continues to spread across the face rapidly. It began with small red patches but has now covered most of her cheeks and nose, giving the appearance of constant blushing. We tried over-the-counter creams for rosacea, but none have been effective.

The skin has become extremely sensitive, to the point that even mild wind triggers flare-ups. Our dermatologist mentioned that inflammation might be a factor, and her last blood test showed elevated inflammatory markers (CRP (C-reactive protein) at 7.2).

We have attempted dietary changes, including avoiding spicy foods, but the condition persists. At times, it also develops small bumps that resemble acne but are not.

What can we do to help get this condition, rosacea, under control?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I would need information on which creams you've already tried, and if possible, a picture to help support our diagnosis.

In the meantime,

  • Treatment options for acne rosacea include topical Brimonidine, Ivermectin, and topical Metronidazole.

  • If you could provide the requested information, we would be able to tailor the treatment plan more effectively.

I hope this information helps you.

Please let us know if you have any further queries.

Thank you.
