Routine Investigations Of Pregnancy

Various investigations are taken during pregnancy. Genetic screening is done to diagnose genetic disorders in children before birth. The first trimester includes blood testing and fetal ultrasound. It helps to determine the risk of the child having birth defects. In the second trimester, several blood tests called multiple markers are done. Various ultrasounds are done during pregnancy to look for fetal growth, estimation of the due date, and to look for any structural abnormalities in the baby. Other tests, such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, fetal monitoring, glucose testing, and group B streptococcus culture are done.
