Hello doctor,

I am concerned about declining kidney function while using compounded Semaglutide for weight loss and prediabetes. I have been using it for five months and have lost 31 pounds, and my blood sugar has normalized.

However, my recent blood tests showed changes in kidney function. My creatinine increased from 0.9 to 1.6 mg/dL, and my eGFR dropped from 85 to 62 mL/min.

I am also experiencing increased thirst, foamy urine, and ankle swelling. The medication was prescribed by my endocrinologist, but I have not received a response regarding these results.

I am currently taking 1.25 mg weekly from a compounding pharmacy. I have a history of hypertension, which is well controlled with medication.

Should I stop the injections immediately?
How serious are these kidney changes?
Could this be related to the quality of the compounded medication?
What follow-up tests should I undergo?
