This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello,

I am an 18-year-old girl living in a tropical country, and the weather here is constantly changing. I have extremely sensitive but dry skin. I have tried many branded products, but they all irritated my skin. Please help.

Hi,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I have reviewed your query and concerns.

Based on your descriptions, it appears that you have skin sensitivity related to the weather, possibly due to dryness. The degree of dryness depends on an individual's skin type. Since you are using a branded moisturizer, you can continue using it along with the following tips:

  1. Apply a moisturizer within three minutes of your bath to ensure that there is some level of hydration on your skin for the moisturizer to work effectively.
  2. If you wish to apply it during the day and evening, take a small amount of lotion, add a few drops of water, mix it, and then apply.
  3. Please check if the moisturizer contains humectants. If it does, consider switching to a moisturizer with only emollient content. Humectants tend to work well in humid climates but not in dry ones, as they can draw moisture from the body, making the skin even drier.
  4. Dryness can make your skin vulnerable to the sun and other external factors, leading to darkening. However, with the use of a moisturizer, the skin can maintain adequate moisture and hydration, staying supple and healthy.
  5. I recommend that you resume daily application of the moisturizer. Additionally, there are combinations of moisturizer and sunscreen available in the market, offered by many leading brands.
  6. At the same time, check if your skin becomes excessively dry after washing your face. Use a mild, moisturizing face wash instead of regular soap. Avoid face washes intended for oily skin, as they can further dry out the skin and deplete natural oils.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at icliniq.

Thank you.
