Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

There are always some rashes present beneath my ear lobes in every season. I have done a lot of treatments for that including anti-fungal oral medications like Fluconazole, Ketoconazole, and Itraconazole as well as applied topical ointments like Sarfraz SN, Terbinaforce, Panderm, and Myderm. But there is no relief. Please suggest some medication.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Based on your image, (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity) I can understand that this can be troublesome. What you seem to be having is inflammation in your fold behind your ear which is quite a recurrent problem and can occur in moist seasons. However, this can also be a part of a condition in which there are associated scalp flakes and itching. To treat this I would suggest you follow some general instructions and some specific instructions

General:

  1. Clean the area twice daily with mild soap and water.

  2. Avoid oiling your hair.

  3. If moist, clean with a dry clean cloth.

  4. Please refrain from wearing anything, such as a mask, that comes into contact with this particular area.

Specific:

  1. Use a cream with antifungal agents along with mid-potency steroids for a week.

  2. If you have dandruff use antifungal-based shampoos.

  3. In case of itching, take antihistamines at a proper dose.

Consult your doctor, talk to them, and then take the medications as per their advice.

I hope this helps you.
