Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Hope you are doing well.

I have gone through the details provided from your end and I do understand your concern.

Skin tanning occurs most prominently due to long hours of sun exposure and may sometimes occur due to a genetic history along with hormonal fluctuations. It is very essential to have a proper skincare routine to reduce the pigmentation from skin tanning as well as proper usage of sunscreen is essential to maintain the effects of pigment-reducing medications.

To reduce tanning, a good skincare routine should include the following,

Step 1: A good face wash or cleanser is essential to reduce the pigmentation. AHA (Alpha hydroxy acid) rejuvenating face wash is a good product that will help in reducing pigmentation. Apply one pump after wetting the face, massage it in gentle circular motions for one minute, and wash it off.

Step 2: Vitamin C serum is essential in the skincare regime after using the face wash. Vitamin C serum of a good brand helps to reduce pigmentation and provide antioxidant properties on the skin.

Step 3: A moisturizer consisting of ceramide and vitamin C can be used to reduce the pigmentation.

Step 4: Sunscreen which is meant for a particular skin type which can be dry, oily, combination, or sensitive skin can be used. An ideal sunscreen should consist of mineral and chemical ingredients which include zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, avobenzone, oxybenzone, and so on which help provide sun protection for an extended period. Lotion-based or silicon gel-based sunscreens may be used every two hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is essential to use sunscreens every day even if it is raining or even if it is winter. If going outdoors, it is essential to apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going out.

A nighttime routine should include the following,

Step 1: A mild face wash may be used for cleansing the face.

Step 2: A few drops of Niacinamide serum may be used daily on the entire face after using the face wash. Once a week, a few drops of a serum containing Kojic acid with Glycolic acid can also be used for the entire face.

Step 3: Using a medicated cream is good for reducing pigmentation by minimizing the melanin production underneath the skin.

Step 4: Moisturization with ceramide and vitamin C as mentioned above can be done 30 minutes after the previous medicated cream has been applied on the pigmented areas.

Apart from the above skincare routine, it is very essential to have a healthy diet including vitamin C-rich food like tomatoes, capsicum, lemon, and orange, glutathione-rich food like spinach, and almonds along with plenty of water intake per day.

Procedures like chemical peels, laser treatment, and microneedling can also be done once a month to reduce skin tanning as well as to keep healthier skin along with the proper usage of skin care products, medications, and following a healthy diet.

Glutathione injections or glutathione serums can also be used from time to time eventually after starting the skincare routine and the other procedures. This helps in having better skin and antioxidant properties built within one's own body to fight against sun damage on the skin.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Take care
