Hello doctor,
The allergist recommended Tezspire for my 16-year-old son's uncontrolled asthma. He has been taking four different medicines already, but still uses a rescue inhaler almost daily and cannot play soccer anymore - it devastated him. The school keeps calling me to pick him up during attacks. This new injection sounds promising, but crazy expensive. Insurance is giving us a headache about covering it. What's this medicine doing differently in his body compared to his other treatments? Is it worth fighting insurance for? How long before we know if it is working? Need straight talk here - his breathing struggles are affecting his mental health, too.

I have gone through the detailed history you have given. Tezspire Injection (Tezepelumab) (monoclonal antibody) is a newer biologic used for eosinophilic asthma only.
I suggest you do the following tests:

Serum IgE (immunoglobulin E) and eosinophil count.
If these are raised, then only Tezspire will work. It blocks the inflammatory chain reaction caused by chemokines and cytokines.
