How to manage THC gummies overload?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Can the presence of MGUS artificially inflate the results of a PSA prostate test? If so, to what extent?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Yes, MGUS (monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance) antibodies can elevate levels of PSA (prostate-specific antigen) or decrease the levels of PSA, but not to a great extent, and if high PSA levels have come, then further investigations are necessary, as MGUS and prostate cancer can coexist. So it is better to get all checkups and ultrasounds done to be safe. Can you send all laboratory tests?

With age, PSA levels come on the higher side, and it is usually normal at this age, so we need to see the detailed reports. MGUS has certain antibodies that can interfere with all the levels of antigens and antibodies.

So there is a possibility of altered levels. So no need to worry now till you get all the other tests and labs. If you have any symptoms of prostate hyperplasia or any other symptoms of prostate involvement, then you need to see the levels again and repeat the PSA levels. along with other tests.

MGUS itself cannot vary levels to a great extent, so if levels are higher, then consult a urologist and get checked, at least get an ultrasound.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
