Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 29 yrs old female and non-virgin. My last period was 20 days back. My boyfriend fingered and penetrated, during that time I did not feel any pain or discomfort but the next day I noticed spotting. I ignored it because it has happened to me earlier also, but after four days of spotting now, I am having bleeding just like my periods but having no pain, discharge, burning micturition. What could it be? Is that I am on my period or something serious?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern, according to your description there are two possibilities,

1. Sometimes during ovulation some spotting or slight bleeding may occur and this could be ovulation spotting.

2. There could be a vaginal infection, in that case, vaginal mucosa becomes fragile and may bleed while having intercourse or fingering. Was there any smelly vaginal discharge before having this spotting?

Kindly answer to guide you better.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

There is no smelly discharge and my periods always regular.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

If you have not taken any hormonal pills in between then this could be your menstrual bleeding also because sometimes due to stress or recent illness periods might fluctuate by one or two weeks, and do not worry there is nothing serious about this, and right now no intervention is needed. 21 to 35 days of the cycle is considered normal, in subsequent cycles if you notice a cycle of less than 21 days then you should do some investigation to rule out any pathology like USG (ultrasonogram) pelvis scan, thyroid profile, and CBC (complete blood count). I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
