Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Recently undergone PCNL surgery for a 9 x 5 centimeter. Sent the stone for analysis and received the report. Need help understanding the report and taking necessary precautions to stop the recurrence of stones. I am also having severe throbbing pain at the tip of my penis. It has been 1 week to 10 days since the surgery happened. I have a double J stent which they said will be removed in a month.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
You have a DJ stent placed, one end is in the kidney, and the other end is in the bladder. The bladder end may be touching the bladder wall and so causing pain in the penis. Take plenty of fluids and lemon juice to reduce the pain. DJ removal will stop the pain. If the pain is more, you can get the medicine prescribed by your doctor. Stone is uric acid, so you need to get a blood test (uric acid) done. If high, your doctor will prescribe you medicines for this. If uric acid is normal, you may be excreting more in urine. So you need to take plenty of water, citrus juices, and potassium citrate syrup daily. You need to check your urine pH by using pH strips and maintain pH at 7. If pH is less, more potassium citrate, if pH is more than 7, reduce the dose of potassium citrate.
For diet, you need to consult a dietician to reduce purines in your diet. These usually come from protein-rich foods, fish, nonveg, and eggs. Get sonography done every six months to detect recurrence early.
I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
