What could cause a thick white discharge from the vagina?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am experiencing a concern with a thick white discharge from the vagina. What should I do? Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for reaching out.

Based on your symptoms, it seems you may have developed vaginal candidiasis, which is caused by a fungal infection called Candida albicans. Please do a vaginal swab test and share the results with me. In the meantime, I suggest the following treatments:

  1. Intravaginal gyno-daktarin pessary: It contains Miconazole nitrate. Use as directed, twice daily.

  2. Ketoconazole 200 mg tablets: Take two tablets orally, twice daily for two weeks.

Consult your doctor and take medicines accordingly.

I hope this helps.

Please revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
