How to treat vaginal odor?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 17 years old, and I am currently having some onion-like odor from my private parts, and I have a usual taste. I would like to know how to resolve this issue and whether I should take probiotics. I use an intimate gel from a well-known brand, and it is to be noted that I am sexually active. I would appreciate it if a gynecologist could help me without being judged.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body system. Regarding your symptoms, you have developed a vaginal infection caused by bacteria or viruses, or fungi infection through sex.

Kindly do a high vaginal and endo cervical swab test and reply to me with the result. I suggest you take the following: injection of Ceftriaxone (beta-lactam antibiotic) one gram start, then two tablets of Doxycycline (tetracycline antibiotic) 100 milligrams for two weeks (two times a day - oral), two tablets of Metronidazole (antibiotic) 400 milligrams for two weeks (three times a day - oral).

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him/her, and take the medicines with their consent.

If you have any more concerns or questions, please contact me by arranging an appointment or following up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Regards.
