The visual evoked potential test is also known as the VEP test. This is a painless and safe approach to assessing a nerve pathway. A few electrodes are attached to the head, and the subject is asked to see a flashing checkerboard pattern while sitting upright in a regular chair. The electrodes will pick up signals from the brain and send them to a computer to record and publish the results.
