Medicines that destroy or restrict the growth of bacteria, and thus treat bacterial infections, are called antibiotics. They are only used to treat bacterial infections and cannot fight viral infections. Some commonly used antibiotics are Amoxicillin, Cephalexin, Clindamycin, Metronidazole, Azithromycin, Norfloxacin, and Ciprofloxacin.
