The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) is an estimation of the magnitude of diffusion (of water molecules) within the tissue that is commonly calculated clinically using MRI with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), in which a diffusion coefficient quantifies the random movement of water molecules.
