A gum abscess is also known as a periodontal abscess. It occurs when the bacteria in the mouth causes infection in the space between teeth and gums. It occurs due to poor oral hygiene, periodontal problems, and a weak immune system. The symptoms are tooth pain, sensitivity to hot foods, bad breath, and pus discharge. It is treated by draining the abscess.
