Medical Conditions - Heterotopia

Heterotopia is a medical term that describes an uncommon condition in which certain cells or tissues grow in abnormal locations within the body. During embryonic development, these misplaced cells can form and may appear in places they do not usually do. The brain, heart, and gastrointestinal tract are just a few of the organs and tissues that are susceptible to heterotopias.
