Listeriosis is an infection caused due to Listeria monocytogenes. It occurs due to eating contaminated foods, unpasteurized milk and dairy products, refrigerated meat, and seafood contain a high amount of Listeria monocytogenes. Pregnant women and people with a weak immune system are at increased risk. Antibiotics are used to treat this condition, and it can be prevented by cooking foods to a safe temperature.
