Inflammation of the ovaries, commonly caused by a bacterial infection, is called oophoritis. It is usually seen together with inflammation of the fallopian tubes (salpingitis). The symptoms include abdominal and pelvic pain, intermenstrual bleeding, increased vaginal discharge, and problems urinating.
