A medical disorder called papilledema is characterized by optic disc swelling in the eye as a result of elevated intracranial pressure. The accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain, which is frequently brought on by ailments including brain tumors, intracranial hypertension, or specific infections, results in this swelling. Papilledema is commonly identified during eye exams and can cause visual issues.
