Staphylococcus aureus is a type of bacteria found in the armpit, nose, and groin. It is spread by touching infected blood or body fluids. It is the leading cause of infections like abscesses and boils. It can develop in anyone, but people with diabetes, eczema, and lung disease are more prone to having S. aureus infection. Typically it appears as a pocket of pus which is painful. The treatment depends on the type of bacteria and duration.
