Being a PCOS/PMOS patient. Can I take I-pill post-intercourse?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. As you have a longer than usual cycle as expected of polycystic ovary syndrome/polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PCOS/PMOS), less likely that you are fertile on the day you had sex. It would be an even added protection that you took the I-pill. The I-pill will work whether you have PCOS/PMOS or not. Comparing to a non-PCOS/PMOS patient, you have lower chance of getting pregnant after taking the I-pill.

How can a woman with PCOS/PMOS improve her chances of pregnancy?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I read your query and understand your concern. If you are planning to get pregnant now, you would need assistance from an OB-GYN (obstetrician-gynecologist). Your OB-GYN would advise you as follows - He or she can give you pills like progesterone to regulate your menses and have you bleed regularly. By doing this, the timing interval to appropriately have intercourse would lead to a better chance of conception.

Why is there spotting during pregnancy with absence of fetal heartbeat in USG?

Hi,Welcome to icliniq.com.I have read your concern.I know you are anxious, but to be honest, the likelihood that this will be a miscarriage is very high. By at least six weeks, there should already be a heartbeat on the ultrasound. We usually give at least two more weeks to repeat the scan especially if it is from a spontaneous conception (not an IVF pregnancy) since the exact date of conception is not determined.

I vomited 5 hours after taking the pill. Am I still protected?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I have read your concern. It could be gastroenteritis secondary to alcohol intake. If you have been on a pill for more than a month and this is your second pack, you have nothing to worry if you just missed out one pill. As most probably you have vomited out the pill, you can take another pill for today and then continue as once a day every day.

What can I do for swollen feet and ankles during pregnancy?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. A pregnant woman usually has edema (swollen lower extremities), especially if she has been standing for quite long time. However, it is never tender but just heavy. It spontaneously resolves when she places her feet at least two pillows higher than her body or only by little elevation. In your case, we must rule out the possibility of cellulitis.

At 37 weeks, are my cramps contractions or just a tummy bug?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. Monitor this cramping by holding or placing your hand on top of your abdomen. Differentiate the feeling and softness of the abdomen when you feel the cramping versus when you do not have the cramps. The actual labor cramps would feel like a menstrual pain accompanied by the perception of hardening on top of your abdomen. It usually lasts for 20 to 30 seconds, and the interval may be irregular at first.

Can pregnancy occur even after taking an emergency pill?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. I just want to be clear that no birth control pill or any family planning method that can give 100 % assurance that you will not get pregnant. It only decreases a significant percentage of the chances. So yes, she can be pregnant but if she took an emergency pill then it gives her only 75 % chance of getting pregnant. The spotting after ECP (emergency contraceptive pills), usually 5 to 10 days after is what we call withdrawal bleeding.

Will Trust pills work as emergency contraceptive pills after unprotected sex?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. The Levonorgestrel content from trust pills is too low. You will need five pills taken at the same time, then another five pills after 12 hours. However, your partner may feel nauseous and uneasy because this pill also contains Estrogen and a high dose of it also have side effects of nausea and vomiting. But yes, theoretically you can substitute it but be ready for the estrogen effects.

Does having sex three days before periods cause pregnancy?

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. If the woman is regularly menstruating, meaning she has regular monthly interval of 28 to 32 days, she will not get pregnant three days prior to having sex. Her ovulation would have happened midcycle and that would be her fertile cycle, it will be within days 10 to 20 days of the cycle. So assuming that she menstruated at day 28 interval, then her three days prior would be day 25, and if it is 32 day interval, it would be day 29. She will not get pregnant at that time.

I have itchy vagina with no foul odor and discharge. Please help.

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. If no unusual foul odor or curdy white discharge, therefore no sign of infection. Itchiness can be secondary to irritation whether chemical or mechanical. Chemical in the form of the soap used or feminine wash and mechanical in the form of panty liners, pads, or even underwear. For now, infection cannot be totally ruled out since it can be early infection wherein the discharge is still pooling inside the vaginal canal.
