I have calf muscle spasm and twitches in the body without weakness. Is this ALS?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. You have calf muscle spasm and twitches all over the body, and you do not have weakness, loss of muscle mass, and the duration of illness is around one year. Please tell me, when do you feel spasm, mostly daytime, nocturnal, or early in the morning? How long does it continue, and how does it relieve? Please try to remember where the twitches started and how they progressed. I mean, did it start from one place and progress to other parts gradually, or is it a random twitch happening here and there? I would also like to know the status of the thyroid since you had Graves' disease. The calf muscle spasms are the commonest complaints and are mostly benign in nature, either due to physical stress or due to some other reason, and out of stress, fear, and anxiety, you are probably having twitches.

What causes heaviness in the head?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. You have been evaluated extensively, but I need a detailed history. Kindly provide a complete history. Based on your reports, the abnormality observed in the MRI of the brain suggests a demyelinating disease (attachment removed to protect patient identity). For this, you have to do IgG (immunoglobulin G) index, oligoclonal bands, and NMO (neuromyelitis optica) antibody and you need to do an ophthalmology evaluation.

Can TMJ disorder cause the pulsatile tinnitus?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. Temperomandibular disorders do not cause pulsatile tinnitus. But temporomandibular joint can cause tinnitus and it occurs in association with the movement of TMJ. It does not cause pulsations. It should have some relationship with jaw movement by increasing or decreasing in intensity with jaw repositioning.

Arm twitching, worse when straight. Motor neuron disease?

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com. This is acute onset localized twitches, started after strenuous activity. This seems to be physiological twitches that are occurring due to minor muscle or nerve injury. Just check for any weakness or loss of muscle mass in the region where you are developing twitches, if they are not then no need to worry. Excess consumption of coffee and smoking can cause the same so avoid excessive coffee and smoking if any is there.
