Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 27 years old. My weight is 143 lbs. Height is 1'6". At 9 AM I took three tablets of Cytotec drugs orally and inserted one. But have been having cramp and diarrhea but no bleeding just sign of small blood when I urinate. Please can I insert another one this night?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The abortion procedure depends on the age of gestation. Cytotec contains Misoprostol and it is used for the abortion procedure. For the first trimester, abortion Mifepristone should be given orally as 600 mg dose and than Misoprostol orally or vaginally inserted after 72 hours. If no induced bleeding, then repeat the dose if needed. You have no induced bleeding, so the abortion process might be incomplete. According to my opinion, you have to consult your gynecologist for examination and transvaginal ultrasonography (TVS) will confirm whether the pregnancy is intrauterine or extrauterine. In only intrauterine pregnancy, abortion procedure is carried out in this way through medication. So do not try any self-medication for abortion. Consult the gynecologist for examination and discuss your further management plan for carrying out abortion. Take care.
