How to treat acne scars?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 22-year-old woman with oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin. Recently, I have been experiencing five to seven pimples, and I have developed acne scars due to the persistent occurrence of pimples over the past few months. I seek advice on how to effectively treat both my acne and the resulting scars, which are not deep, but have caused pigmentation on my cheeks.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I sincerely empathize with your medical condition and commend you for being attentive to the changes in your body. Rest assured, I am here to support you. Based on your symptoms, it appears you may be experiencing acne vulgaris, potentially linked to hormonal imbalances or changes in cosmetic products. I recommend the following treatment,

  1. Take Tab Minocycline 500 milligrams orally three times a day for one week, and apply either 2 percent Resorcinol topically once daily.

  2. Also, you may use 0.1% Tretinoin twice daily, or use 20 percent Azelaic acid once daily, or 5% Dapsone gel once daily for one month.

If your symptoms do not improve, please schedule a follow-up appointment through chat, phone, or video consultation.

I hope this information helps you.

Feel free to ask further queries.

Thank you.
