Patient's Query
Hello Doctor,
I have had an acne problem for a long time. Although the acne has mostly resolved now, the scars and visible pores remain on my face. I would appreciate some suggestions, or if you could recommend some medicines or products that may help improve the appearance of the scars and pores.
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I can see that your active acne is under control, which is great. The main concern now is acne scars and enlarged pores, a common issue after long-term acne. You are already using Tretinoin 0.025 percent, sunscreen, and moisturizer, which form a very good base.
To improve further, here is our plan:
Continue Tretinoin at night; it will help with collagen remodeling over time.
Add a Niacinamide serum (2 to 5%) in the morning after cleansing. This helps with pores, oil control, and overall skin tone.
Consider a gentle exfoliant twice weekly, either a BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole) (Salicylic acid 1-2 %) toner, or a PHA (polyhydroxy acid) exfoliant (if your skin is sensitive).
For acne scars (post-acne marks):
Use Azelaic acid 10 to 20% in the morning or on alternate nights.
You may also consider vitamin C serum (Ascorbic acid) in the morning if it is well tolerated.
Visible results may take two to three months with consistent use. If the scarring is deep, you may later consider dermatological procedures such as microneedling, chemical peels, or laser treatment. Avoid using thick or greasy creams, and do not stop Tretinoin suddenly.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
