How can I develop a skincare routine to reduce acne problems?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am writing about my skin and acne issues on my face. I have oily skin, which leads to frequent acne problems. Also, I have acne scars. I am getting married in seven months, and I am very concerned about my skin. I know I am very late, but is there a skincare routine I could follow for the next five to six months to reduce acne scars and achieve clearer, more glowing skin (at least 40 to 50 percent improvement) by seven months? Could you please suggest a daily routine involving creams, moisturizers, serums, and multivitamins? I have attached some photos for reference. Please review them.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Here is a skincare routine you can follow:

  1. Wash your face with Aquaderm cleanser or Cetaphil cleanser twice daily, in the morning and evening, for two months.
  2. Apply Cetaphil cream immediately after cleansing for two months.
  3. Use Ahaglow face wash twice weekly for six weeks. Do not over-scrub or exfoliate.
  4. Take one tablet of Antoxid HC (antioxidants) daily after dinner for 30 days.
  5. Apply Nadifloxacin 2% cream during the daytime and at night for two weeks on pimples and scratched pimples.
  6. Apply Photostable sunscreen 30 minutes before going outdoors for two months.
  7. Consume a diet rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C, and omega-3 fatty acids. Include foods like papaya, mangoes, carrots, avocado, berries, oranges, and spinach in your diet.
  8. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Aim for six to eight glasses of water daily.
  9. Avoid exposure to dust, pollutants, and allergens.
  10. Avoid skincare products that cause stinging or burning upon application.
  11. Use Soapex (anti-bacterial soap) soap for bathing for two months.
  12. Avoid scratching or rubbing the lesions.
  13. Be cautious with cosmetics.
  14. Maintain a healthy and balanced diet, avoiding oily, junk, and spicy foods.

I hope you find this information useful.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for replying.

Does all the mentioned creams and cleansers are suitable for my oily skin? Do I need to apply Nadifloxacin 2% cream on pimples or on acne scars? Or the entire face? Also, is Cetaphil a moisturizer cream? Please clarify.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Use D acne face wash twice daily for two weeks (for oily skin). Apply Nadibact (Nadifloxacin) cream on pimples and scars. Yes, Cetaphil is a moisturizer cream.

I hope this clarifies your query.

Thank you.
