How can I treat pimples?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I started having pimples with redness but not white pus. So I started using Salicylic acid serum, but after that, I started getting more pimples, so I was thinking of switching to Benzoyl peroxide gel 2.5 % as per my friend's recommendation.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body's system. But do not worry. I am here to take care of you.

Regarding your symptoms, I believe you have developed acne vulgaris, possibly due to hormone imbalance or cosmetic changes. Stop using the benzoyl.

Please use the following

  1. Tablet Minocycline 500mg (tetracycline antibiotics) orally for one week.

  2. Apply topical two percent Resorcinol (exfoliant) (antiseptic and disinfectant) every day.

  3. Topical 0.1 percent Tretinoin (Retinoids).

  4. 20 percent Azelaic acid (Dicarboxylic acid).

  5. Five percent Dapsone gel (Sulfone antibiotics) every day for one month.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
