How to cure acne?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My left cheek is experiencing persistent acne, a problem that began about a month ago. At present, I am applying a toner and benzoyl peroxide gel. I am a 25-year-old male, standing at 5 feet 10 inches tall. What should I do?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The causes of acne may include hormonal changes, genetic predisposition, specific medications, stress, overactive sebaceous glands, clogged pores, and the presence of Propionibacterium species. The following things can be done to reduce acne;

  1. It is important to manage stress, as it significantly contributes to the development of acne.

  2. Avoid popping pimples, as this can lead to secondary bacterial infections and permanent scarring.

  3. Ensure you stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

  4. Incorporate a diet that is rich in antioxidants, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Please attach a clinical image of the lesions for further assessment and guidance.

I hope this information helps you.

Feel free to ask further queries.

Thank you.
