Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am suffering from face acne, redness, and itching. Kindly help me find a good serum that can clear the black spots, redness, acne, and itching on my face.
Also, I have a history of ulcerative colitis and take Mesacol, probiotics, omega-3, and B12 shots. I had a colonoscopy.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concern so clearly. I can completely understand your pain.
Based on your history and medicine you mentioned, you are most likely having acne either due to sensitive skin, skincare regimen, facial products, or due to B12 shots, as vitamin B12 is associated with acne.
To give your exact diagnosis, I would like to ask if you have applied any steroids, whitening creams, or serums before. Also, would appreciate it if you could share a clear picture of your face from the front and side so that I can see if you are having comedonal, cystic, or inflamed acne.
Meanwhile, I am giving you a step-by-step routine to manage it. For treatment, in the morning and at night, use a gentle cleanser or a simple refreshing face wash.
Apply Clindamycin 1 percent gel, which comes under the name Clindac A. In the morning, using a thin layer only on active acne lesions, followed by a non-comedogenic moisturizer containing Pentylene Glycol, Aqua, Hydrogenated Lecithin, and Olus Oil.
After this, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF (sun protection factor) 50 ) every morning, even if you are indoors, as sun exposure can worsen redness and make acne marks darker.
Good sunscreen options include those containing Cell-Ox Shield technology, Vitamin E, Perlite, and Silica, or any oil-free, acne-safe sunblock suitable for sensitive skin.
For itching, take tablet Cetirizine 10 mg at bedtime. Please avoid scrubs, harsh face washes, picking or squeezing acne, as these significantly worsen redness and scarring. Consistency is key, and visible improvement usually takes eight to 12 weeks.
Please share your picture for added management to get faster results.
I hope it helped with your query,
Thank you.
