What are the safe skincare solutions for bumps and scars?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18-year-old, and I am reaching out for advice regarding several skin concerns. I have small white bumps on my face that are not exactly pimples, as well as whiteheads on my nose. I also have scars on my legs that I would like to lighten or remove. In addition, I am experiencing discoloration on my knees, elbows, bikini area, and especially my underarms. I am looking for safe, age-appropriate treatments or skincare solutions that can help improve these issues. I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Relax and try to keep yourself stress-free, as stress can worsen skin conditions. The whiteheads on your face may be caused by the use of oily or greasy cosmetic products, excessive use of makeup, or clogged pores. The darkened areas of your skin, also known as hyperpigmentation, could be related to a vitamin deficiency, particularly vitamin B12. It is recommended to check your vitamin B12 levels through a blood test. Based on your symptoms, a possible diagnosis is a comedonal acne with associated hyperpigmentation.

For treatment, wash your face with Saslic DS (Salicylic Acid 2 %, Gluconolactone 2 %, and Tea Tree Oil). Apply Melaglow Rich (Hydroquinone 4 %, Tretinoin 0.025 %, and Mometasone Furoate 0.1 %) on the areas of hyperpigmentation twice a week for six weeks. Additionally, use Tyrodin Cream (Alpha Arbutin, Retinol, and Vitamin C) on the pigmented areas after bathing, once daily for one month. A follow-up after three weeks is advised to monitor your progress.

To prevent further skin issues, avoid constant friction on the skin, limit exposure to irritants, manage stress effectively, and maintain a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin B12. Keep your skin moisturized by using a mild moisturizer twice daily for one month. Use Kozicare (Kojic Acid and Vitamin C) for bathing during the same period.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer.

Thank you.
