Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had mild acne for six years and now I am 18 but still I have mild acne. I drink a lot of water, and consume a great amount of dairy products (this is one aspect of my diet I cannot change). Also, I generally avoid junk food. I just use a moisturizer for oily skin and cream for dry skin as I have combination skin. What products or acne kits should I use? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to iclinq.com.

I can understand your concern. Acne Vulgaris is a common skin problem in adolescents and in adulthood. It involves pilosebaceous follicles or oil glands and therefore is seen to involve areas where oil glands are dense like the face, chest, back, and upper arms. In your case, it looks like grade one to grade two acne. You can start using Clindamycin in topical form, Nicotinamide during daytime over pimples and Microbenz 3.5% gel or Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5 % in night hour over the whole face for around two to three months. For cleaning your face you can use a oil-reducing cleanser twice daily. You need to follow certain dietary restrictions, such as avoiding oily, spicy, and junk food, as well as milk products. You should also consider reducing the consumption of non-vegetarian foods and increasing your water intake to keep your skin hydrated.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards
