What routine must I follow if my skin reacts to everything?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have rough, bumpy, acne-prone skin with acne marks. Usually, products do not work out well for me and cause acne. I want some product suggestions for better skin.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query.

I am really sorry for what you have been going through, and I completely understand your concern.

Based on your concern of rough, bumpy, acne-prone skin with marks and sensitivity to products, the goal is to keep your routine simple, gentle, and non-comedogenic while gradually improving texture and pigmentation.

In the morning, start with a mild cleanser, followed by a light, soothing moisturizer. After moisturizing, always apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen to prevent further acne marks and protect your skin barrier.

In the evening, cleanse again and then apply a pea-sized amount of Azelaic acid cream, preferably under a layer of moisturizer to reduce irritation. This will help with acne, bumps, and post-acne marks. In the afternoon or once daily, you may apply an acne scar gel only on the marks if needed. Stick to this routine consistently for four to six weeks to see visible improvement.

Avoid trying too many products at once, do not pick or squeeze acne, and choose oil-free, non-comedogenic skincare to prevent further breakouts.

I hope this answers your query.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
