Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am 32 years old and have allergic rhinitis year-round, but springtime is especially bad. My nose runs constantly, and I sneeze even indoors. I am on Levocetirizine, but I still need nasal sprays every day. Should I consider allergy shots or immunotherapy? Can indoor air purifiers make a noticeable difference?
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I have read your query and can understand your concern. Allergy shots, also known as allergen immunotherapy, can be an effective treatment option for resistant allergic rhinitis (hay fever) when symptoms are not adequately controlled by other treatments. Immunotherapy works by gradually exposing the body to increasing amounts of allergens, which can help desensitize the immune system and reduce allergic reactions. An indoor air purifier can be beneficial for individuals with allergic rhinitis. Air purifiers, particularly those with HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters, can help reduce the presence of airborne allergens, which are common triggers for allergic rhinitis symptoms. By removing these allergens from the indoor air, air purifiers can potentially lessen the severity of allergic rhinitis symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and congestion.
I hope this information will help you.
