Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am getting bald from the front at one point. Five years ago, I used a razor on that part.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I have gone through the details and image provided (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity) from your end, and I do understand your concern.
Your issue is alopecia areata (AA). AA is an autoimmune condition in which your cells mistakenly attack your own cells, considering them foreign cells. This is a common condition, but it can be managed.
The concern with AA is that they may be on and off at any point in years and do not have a permanent cure, but may be treated whenever they do occur.
Some triggers, such as stress, irregular sleep patterns, fever, intake of hot and spicy food, and medical conditions like thyroid conditions, can be avoided to prevent further recurrences.
My advice:
If you want to try a more potent serum, Minotress (Minoxidil) two percent serum may be used instead. Use one milliliter quantity on the affected area at night, massage in, keep overnight, and wash off in the morning. Do not stop this serum abruptly. Make sure to use it for at least one year every night, then make it six days per week for the next six months, then five days per week for the next six months, and so on, and gradually stop its usage after they are used once a week eventually.
Tablet Perfectil (Astaxanthin and Biotin): Consume this tablet after dinner daily for three months. This is a multivitamin meant for skin, hair, and nails. They will help in strengthening the hair roots.
ILS (intralesional steroid) injections are the main treatment for AA. This treatment is done at a doctor's clinic, where the doctor superficially injects Triamcinolone into the affected area once a month for four sessions (four months). This treatment, along with medications, will work wonders. I highly recommend this treatment. It is inexpensive and the main treatment for alopecia areata.
Stress management and sleep management are essential.
For stimulating blood circulation, a three-part coconut oil massage with two parts castor oil and one part vitamin E capsule oil can be done once a week. Use this mixture on the entire scalp, including the affected area, once a week, keep it for an hour, and wash it off with shampoo.
Anti-hair fall shampoo: Use this shampoo to cleanse the scalp once a week. Be consistent with the treatment for faster results.
I hope this has helped you.
Please feel free to reach out to me again if you have further queries.
Thank you.
