Common "Amennorhea" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Amennorhea

The absence of or missing more than one period is termed amenorrhea. Primary amenorrhea is when the period does not start during puberty, and secondary amenorrhea is when a woman misses her period for a few months. The former is usually due to a family history of the delayed period, genetic conditions like Turner syndrome, hormonal problems, and problems with the reproductive organs. The latter is common to occur during pregnancy and parturition. But it can also be due to polycystic ovaries, hormone issues, nutritional deficiency, stress, ovarian tumors, etc.
