I have a loss of appetite. Is it drug-induced anorexia?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor.

I am an 18-year-old male. My height is 6.0 feet, and I weigh 132.7 pounds.

My concern is that whenever I look at food, it makes me feel sick; this also adds to the fact that I have a complete loss of appetite; I have to force-feed myself even when I am not hungry. Also, I am on medication.

Foods that have any sort of smell or look to them make me feel ill. I can look at a loaf of bread, but if you placed a juicy steak in front of me, I would feel sick. I have no desire to eat anything but really basic and bland food. It is not that I do not like the flavour when I am eating it its normally fine, but the smell and the look make me feel really ill.

I lost a lot of weight previously when I had broken my jaw and was forced to eat soft food for months. After that, I struggled with eating. I never felt sick towards food, just never had an appetite.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Your symptoms suggest you have developed anorexia nervosa. It is a condition that is characterized by a loss of appetite due to a psychological influence.

I suggest you take the following supplements to encourage your eating habits. Take a capsule Ranferon 1000 mg orally, once daily for a month.

If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment for follow-up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
