What causes abdominal throbbing after appendectomy?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

After my appendix was removed with three small incisions, I have been feeling a pulse or throbbing feeling in my abdomen. It only started recently (two weeks after surgery) and I feel it quite often now. What is it and what can I do? I am now three weeks post-surgery.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for reaching out to iCliniq.

I am very sorry about your medical condition. Do not worry I am here to take care of you. Regarding your symptoms and pictures sent, I believe you have developed a possible post-operative swelling or adhesion that is preventing adequate blood flow within your abdomen. I do not think it is a pathology ailment for it will subside. Please take tablet vasopressin 75 mg for one week. If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment for follow-up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
