How to treat subacute appendicitis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello Doctor,

I have stomach pain and did a sonography, and the doctor diagnosed a few enlarged lymph nodes, most likely due to subacute appendicitis. However, I do not have any other noticeable symptoms, so what should I do?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I suggest you take a course of the following antibiotics and antispasmodics

  1. Tablet Norfloxacin 400 mg twice a day after meals.
  2. Tablet Colimex (Dicyclomine Hydrochloride and Paracetamol) twice a day.
  3. Tablet Zantac (Ranitidine) twice a day, half an hour before meals.

You must maintain a semi-solid diet, including soup, pulses, daals, etc. Avoid heavy foods like fried, non-vegetarian, oils, etc.

The above treatment will help give relief from the infection of the appendix. The appendix lies on the right side. If the pain is due to appendicitis, then the pain must persist till the removal of the appendix.

I hope this helps you.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
