Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I work nights and was taking my morning (AM) dose of Armour Thyroid with me and was going to put it in my pocket. However, I had a multivitamin tablet in my other hand, and instead of pocketing the thyroid medicine, I took it by mistake. It is Armour Thyroid 90 mg. I tried to vomit it out, but I think it dissolved. Of course, my doctor is not open at late hours, there is no on-call doctor, and no pharmacy is available near me, so I called poison control. I am worried and feeling anxious, but I cannot tell if it is the extra medicine or me. Currently, I am on tablets Venlafaxine 225 mg and Guanfacine XR. Please help me and suggest accordingly.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query, and from what you have described, I understand that you have taken a double daily dose of Armour Thyroid that totals up to 180 mg (90 mg multiplied by 2). This is a serious issue, and you need to visit an emergency room to monitor your heart rate and blood pressure for the next 24 hours. I suggest you can skip tomorrow's dose if you are fine for the next 24 hours.

I hope this helps. Take care.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for helping me.

I am a female. I am currently monitoring my heart rate and blood pressure at work routinely. Therefore, I will skip the dose that I usually take and restart the doses as usual from day-after-tomorrow.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Keep checking your blood pressure and heart rate every hour and see if you experience any chest pains or other warning signs, then visit the emergency room. If you are fine, I suggest you skip tomorrow’s dose and then continue as usual from day-after-tomorrow.

Thank you.
