Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I gave my semen for analysis and the report shows teratozoospermia. The volume, sperm concentration, and motility are normal. I am obese. Is it possible for me to conceive normally?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Some common causes of teratozoospermia can be like,
1. Problem in testicles due to an infection or injury.
2. Varicocele.
3. Cigarette smoking.
4. Smoking weed or drug abuse.
5. Excessive consumption of alcohol.
6. Diabetes.
7. Surroundings that increase the temperature of the testicles like spending more time in hot tubs, saunas, or wearing tight undergarments.
8. Genetic defects.
In your case, it is important to evaluate the reason first to determine the treatment. Your case is suggestive of severe teratozoospermia. So, I suggest you can avoid the above causes if any are present. Treatment may include lifestyle changes, healthy eating, daily exercises, and taking supplements. If infection is the cause, then it is curable.
Chances of conceiving normally are there if the defect is due to infection, smoking or alcohol, obesity, or environmental conditions.
I hope this has helped you.
Thanks and regards.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thanks for your reply.
I feel obesity is the main cause in my case. If I start to do lifestyle changes, how many days it may take to improve normal sperm forms?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I suggest you do lifestyle changes, take supplements with it for sperm health, and do exercises. It can take three to six months to see any results. I suggest you consult a specialist for a proper examination of your both testicles to rule out any varicocele.
I hope this has helped you.
Thanks and regards.
