Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My 14-year-old son has severe, uncontrolled asthma that is becoming life-threatening despite aggressive treatment. He currently uses Symbicort and Montelukast but still requires emergency room visits almost monthly, with two ICU admissions this year. His pulmonologist has recommended starting Tezspire injections, as his previous biologic (Fasenra) did not significantly improve his symptoms. His asthma seems to be triggered by nearly everything, like minor colds, exercise, changes in the weather, and even stress from school. He has missed so much school that he is now at risk of repeating the grade, and he is becoming increasingly anxious and depressed about his condition. We have already eliminated all possible triggers from our home, including rehoming our beloved family dog. Is Tezspire significantly more effective than other biologics for severe asthma in adolescents? What are the potential long-term side effects for someone his age?
We are desperate for anything that might prevent another terrifying episode of respiratory distress.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Tezspire (Tezepelumab) will not work wonders because he has already taken one biologic drug, which is not beneficial. So better to avoid it.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
