How can one manage an itchy scalp due to atopic dermatitis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have an itchy, dry scalp with mild atopic dermatitis. About five years ago I had severe AD, and at that time my dermatologist did not recommend any shampoo but only medicines. But now I want a shampoo for mild AD on my scalp; it is irritating to tolerate. Please recommend a shampoo.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Relax and make yourself stress-free, as stress is a big contributing factor. Use mild shampoo twice weekly for six weeks. Apply anti-dandruff serum in the morning for one month.

Avoid harsh shampoos loaded with chemicals. Attach a clinical picture to assess so we can guide you further.

Kindly consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
