What could be done to manage broken teeth in a 70-year-old?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My father is 70 years old, and all his teeth are broken. He cannot chew or eat correctly. A type of white color acid also comes out sometimes from both sides of his lips, and sometimes that acid cuts the sides of his lips. But I also want to know if we can put a denture without removing those teeth.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

First, a full mouth X-ray will help to know the number of remaining teeth. Often only the root remains and causes infection and pus accumulation, so such parts must be removed. If there are any strong teeth that can be restored and your father can quickly go for removable dentures, they will be the best option because bones at this age do not give support.

Kindly revert with a full mouth X-ray that will help provide detailed insights.

I hope my answer was helpful to you.

Thank you.
