Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a 3-year-old boy who just started to answer his name (not so often), non nonverbal, does not point, does not play with other kids, he understands only “give me your hand to kiss’’ or “let me kiss your cheek”, if he wants something he just takes my hand and sends me to the object. He also started to bring objects to me (not so often), he is so picky about food and does a lot of sideglancing looks from the corner of his eyes. We as a parent think he has autism because he has almost all the symptoms of autism. We reside in a country where specialists like neurologists, pediatricians, and psychologists, tell us that we need to wait for him to start kindergarten and to see until the end of the year how is he gonna react, but he is not going. He does not like it, only cries. We also got a scan done of his brain in case of epilepsy but it was all good. I can also send you videos and photos of his behaviors. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Considering the age of the child you will definitely need to wait for the diagnosis of autism till the age of four or five years. Till then, you can follow some measures to see behavioral changes. Please consult to know more.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,,

Please suggest what I can do to see behavioral changes.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

To see the behavioral changes you can follow a few steps like reducing screen time to not more than two hours per day. Spend more quality time with the child. Take the child outdoors more frequently. Let the child explore the surroundings under the safety of your supervision. Avoid shouting at the child. Explain to the child in a polite and understanding tone. If you have a doubt about the hearing capabilities of the child, it would be better to get the child evaluated with a hearing screening test like BERA (brain-evoked response auditory).

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Can I send you videos and photos so that you can see better his behaviors so they do not go public?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You will have to send it via icliniq.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Can I send them here in chat?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I am not sure if you can do that in chat. You will have to tell icliniq to send it to me.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

That is the side glancing that he does. Unfortunately, I cannot send you the videos. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

This side-glancing behavior that you have shown in the photo is not indicative specifically of autism. So you do not need to worry. Please go through the list I have sent you and let me know if you have any confusion.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The behavior of your child that you are experiencing is experienced by quite a few parents worldwide. However, try and work on the points I have mentioned above, and hopefully in two to three months or so, some changes should be visible.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
